NOVICOM
NOVICOM is a single sensor solution for measuring CO, NO and visibility in road tunnels. An optional NO2 or total NOx reading can also be derived from the NO measurement.
Having been designed specifically for the requirements of tunnel operators, NOVICOM has a low cost of ownership and minimal maintenance requirements. It’s a modern design using the latest opto-electronic technology and high performance components to deliver a top specification with exceptional reliability.
NOVICOM has a “stand alone” capability (i.e. it has no need for a control unit), so it simply requires power in, and provides outputs out – directly from the sensor head. However, an optional control unit (known as the OI), with display and keypad, is available for those requiring a more conventional human interface or remote outputs.
Both the NOVICOM and the optional OI offer a full complement of industry standard outputs including: 4-20mA analogues, relay alarm contacts, and a choice of serial comms, including ModBus, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet etc.
The analyser itself consists of a transmitter head (Tx) and receiver head (Rx) mounted 6m apart on the tunnel wall or roof. The Tx emits an infrared (IR) beam for the CO/NO measurements, and a visible (green light) beam for the visibility measurement. Both beams make a single pass across the 6m open path between the Tx and Rx.
The Rx collects both beams and calculates CO/NO using standard spectroscopy techniques, and visibility using transmission opacity. Both measurement techniques are well established, but our fresh approach to the application of these techniques have led to many innovations that set NOVICOM apart from its competitors.
Carefully considered details such as all stainless-steel construction, adjustable mounting brackets, quick release sight tubes and free PC software, all contribute towards and instrument that is easy to install, commission, operate and service.
